Two defendants in the press investigation are under criminal proceedings, the bureau said.
The State Bureau of Investigation confirmed the location and sent documents for the extradition of one of the defendants in a journalistic investigation about the departure of Ukrainian conscripts to Monaco. This was reported on the SBI website on Thursday, September 1.
It is said that the department is actively investigating proceedings on the legality of the border crossing of Ukrainians liable for military service from the so-called “Monaco battalion”.
“SBI officials have confirmed the whereabouts of one of the heroes of this journalistic investigation. He is a suspect in the bureau’s criminal proceedings for illegal embezzlement of funds,” the report said.
The Bureau of State Investigation emphasizes that steps are currently being taken to detain this defendant and extradite him to Ukraine. Documents have been sent to EU countries that will bring him closer to meeting investigators.
For another person mentioned in the journalistic investigation, the State Bureau of Investigation is investigating criminal proceedings related to tax evasion by a group of companies owned by the defendant.
“It was established that, under the guise of tax officials, a group of companies manipulated financial statements, carried out fictitious business transactions to reduce the amounts that had to be paid to the budget. Also, during the investigation, it was revealed that these companies continue to carry out business activities on the peninsula after the annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” – indicated in the message.
According to the materials of the State Bureau of Investigation, the property of a “Monaco battalion fighter” was seized, resting on the azure coast, while his companies were actually robbing Ukrainians.
Recall that on August 17, SBI officials began to check information about Ukrainian VIP refugees in Monaco, Monte Carlo and Nice. This is due to the published film-investigation “Battalion of Monaco”.
