The delegation of international observers did not refuse to visit ZNPP, despite the shelling of Energodar.
An International Atomic Energy Agency mission left Zaporozhye for Energodar on September 1, despite reports of heavy shelling in the city. This was reported by Reuters.
IAEA chief Rafael Grossi said the mission was aware of “increased military activity in the area” but insisted it planned to visit the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and meet with its staff.
“There is increased military activity in this area… Being so remote, we are not stopping,” Grossi said.
Earlier it was reported that Russian troops were shelling Energodar from mortars and machine guns starting at five in the morning. The enemy also used a helicopter.
The Zaporizhia Regional Military District announced that the previously agreed route of the IAEA mission to the ZNPP and the initial delegation group could not proceed with the move for security reasons.
