From September 1, according to the decision of the President of Poland Andrzej Duda, Polish fighters began to carry out tasks in the airspace of Slovakia. PAP reports.
“The purpose of this mission is to strengthen our ally against the backdrop of a security crisis caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine,” said Pavel Solokh, head of Poland’s National Security Bureau.
It is known that from September 1, a pair of F16 or MiG29 will be put into service.
Earlier, the defense departments of Poland and Slovakia signed a declaration on cooperation in protecting Slovakia’s airspace. This agreement paves the way for the transfer of Slovak MiG29s to Ukraine, and Slovakia will receive Western fighters instead.
Recall that talks about the possibility of transferring Slovak MiG-29 to Ukraine have been going on since the beginning of the war against Russia.
