Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Labib, in a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, apologized for last year’s visit to annexed Crimea. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Last year, as a journalist and documentary filmmaker, he visited the city of Sevastopol in Crimea in violation of Ukrainian law. As a documentary filmmaker, he implemented a project showing how Russia used culture as power and propaganda , and how artists can live. under oppression in very difficult historical times. He sincerely regrets that this visit took place in such circumstances,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Minister Hadja Labib assured the Ukrainian people of his support and Belgian readiness to contribute to the restoration of peace and reconstruction of Ukraine.
It was previously reported that Ukraine and Belgium will not meet due to current Foreign Minister Aji Lyabib’s illegal trip to Russian-occupied Crimea in 2021.
