At least 230 children have remained missing in Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24, according to data released this Wednesday by the country’s Prosecutor General’s Office on the Children of War portal.
According to these figures released by local agencies, in addition to the 230 missing children, 7,297 children were deported from Ukraine to other places outside the country.
At the same time, 5,177 missing children have been located to date, and 53 of them have already been returned to their homeland.
It should be noted that 1,114 children were victims of a large-scale military invasion carried out by Russia in Ukraine.
“As of the morning of August 31, 2022, the official number of children killed has not changed compared to the previous day: a total of 379 people. The data on the victims has not changed either: more than 735, ”the said message says.
Inconclusive numbers
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, these figures are not final, as work is underway to establish losses in areas of active hostilities, in temporarily occupied territories and in liberated territories.
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation caused damage to a total of 2,328 educational institutions in Ukraineof which 289 were completely destroyed.
In Russian-occupied areas, parents are forced to send their children to schools they have created, threatening to separate them from their families, according to the prosecutor’s office.
