Mateusz Morawiecki considers EU visa restrictions an important “pressure instrument” on the Kremlin.
The Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, is in favor of stopping the issuance of visas to Russian citizens, except for humanitarian ones. He said this on August 31 at a press conference in Copenhagen, reports PolskieRadio24.
The head of the Polish government is confident that visa restrictions are “another and correct instrument of pressure on the Kremlin.”
“I am convinced that water washes away stone and that our actions make sense. I don’t remember that in 1943 any of the German tourists traveled, for example, to Great Britain or other countries of the free world for tourism purposes,” Morawiecki insisted.
According to him, today Russia is “an aggressor who kills civilians and commits terrible crimes in Ukraine.”
“Therefore, Russian assets should be confiscated, and Russians should not receive non-humanitarian visas,” said the prime minister and expressed hope that this postulate would be supported in the EU.
Remember that foreign ministers of EU countries cannot agree on a ban on issuing visas to Russian citizens.
At the same time, Finland, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia expressed their readiness to independently tighten the visa regime for Russians until Europe makes a general decision.
