A few days earlier, a nearby refugee house was also attacked with incendiary devices.
In Leipzig, Germany, unknown people tried to set fire to a kindergarten where refugee children from Ukraine were raised. On Tuesday, August 30, Bild reports.
It was learned that the attackers probably threw flammable liquid at the entrance and set it on fire. Despite their efforts, the fire did not spread to the kindergarten, but only damaged the door.
The arson took place when the kindergarten was closed, and therefore no one was hurt. The site of the institution is located 700 meters from the refugees’ house, which was also attacked with incendiary devices on Friday, August 26, in the evening.
Law enforcement officials admitted there was a connection between the arson.
“Due to the spatial proximity, we do not exclude that there is a connection between these two attacks. Now we are studying eyewitness accounts, interviewing local residents, looking for camera recordings and analyzing social networks,” said Tom Bernhardt, spokesman for the German state criminal police department.
It was previously reported that Ukrainian refugee teenagers were beaten in Ireland. During the battle, the attackers shouted: “Go home, Ukrainians” and “Putin is the king.”
