The European Union planned to fill underground gas storage facilities by 80% by November 1 against the background of possible disruptions in gas supplies from the Russian Federation.
Underground gas storage facilities in the European Union are 80% full, two months ahead of schedule. This was said by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, writes European Truth.
“At the EU level, we are diversifying resources, saving energy and conserving it. Our gas storage is 80% full,” von der Leyen said on his Twitter.
He added that in order to reduce the EU’s dependence on Russian fossil fuels, the EU needs renewable energy. That is why the commitments made so far make it possible to meet one third of the EU’s offshore wind energy target by 2030.
