President Ivan Duque listed three areas where Colombia is ready to increase energy production.
Colombian President Ivan Duque Marquez expressed the country’s readiness to play a major role in providing Europe with energy resources. He is confident that he can help the EU turn its back on Russia’s energy. On Wednesday, April 13, he said in an interview with CNN.
Duque listed three areas where Colombia would be ready to increase production: conventional oil and gas production, renewable energy sources such as clean hydrogen and coal.
“Now, Colombia can immediately increase the amount of coal. We have some of the largest resources in the world, and we don’t use them to generate electricity,” Duque said.
In particular, it was noted that Colombia will increase the supply of coal to Germany.
Duque also supported Joe Biden’s position on Russia’s atrocities in Ukraine.
“What is happening in Ukraine is a genocide. And it must stop. It is madness,” the President of Colombia added.
Recall that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called on the European Union to impose an oil embargo on Russia. He also noted that Europe must show a clear readiness to renounce all of Russia’s energy resources.
