President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky invited on Monday to French companies participate in the reconstruction of their country, especially in sectors such as construction, energy, infrastructure and food.
“Ukraine is a guarantee of Europe’s food security,” he said. Zelensky during a video intervention prior to the usual summer conference of the main French employers’ organization Medef.
The reconstruction will cost about $750 billion, according to estimates by the Ukrainian government itself at an international conference on the issue held in early July in Lugano, Switzerland.
“Today I can’t talk about specific amounts,” he admitted. Zelenskywho emphasized above all the need to work in the housing, transport and infrastructure sectors so that refugees who fled the country at the beginning of the conflict could return.
Ukraine also asks for investment in urban services
Also, Zelensky He explained that his country is looking for investment in building materials, urban services (such as water supply or waste management), conventional and renewable energy sources, electric vehicle production and food production.
“We want to work for the European market, which we are going to integrate into,” he assured with the prospect of future entry into the European Union, which declared his country a candidate for joining the bloc.
The Ukrainian president condemned the invasion launched by Russia just over six months ago as a “colonial war” to “seize our resources” which are “key to the global economy.”
He also warned of the danger of “war fatigue” that could cause Western countries to pay less attention to the conflict while “Russia devotes a lot of resources to spreading its narrative.”
