Seven vessels passed through the mouth of the Bystry passage of the Danube River – the Black Sea in one day, and four through the Romanian Sulina Canal.
The previous day, on August 27, in the direction of the ports of Izmail Reni and Ust-Dunaysk, 11 vessels with a total volume of 45,000 tons passed through the mouth of Bystroye and the Romanian Sulina Canal. This is a record high since February 24, the start of a full-scale Russian invasion. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
In particular, through the mouth of the Bystroye river passage. The Danube – Black Sea passed seven ships, and through the Romanian channel Sulina – four.
Since March, more than 4 million tons of grain have been transported to the ports of the Danube – so far this is more than all other means of transport, according to the Ministry.
“The dynamics of the increase is significant. If in March our ports processed only 16.5 thousand tons of agricultural products for export, then in July the figure was about 1.4 million tons. These are good results, but certainly not final. Even with the stable operation of the Initiative for the Safe Transportation of Agricultural Products along the Black Sea, the Ministry of Infrastructure continues to improve the logistics of export on the Danube. In particular, we are creating conditions for unhindered communication between ports by rail, including providing direct rail traffic. Under systematic investments and the implementation of the program for modernization of the ports on the Danube, it is possible to increase their capacity to 25 million tons of cargo per year,” said the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.
Recall that in early July, the mouth of the Bystroye river pass. Danube – The Black Sea became available for the passage of ships carrying agricultural products. This happened because of the liberation of Snake Island by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Before this, access to Ukrainian Danube ports was possible only through the Sulina Canal, which passes through Romanian territory.
