The opening of the new gas pipeline will take place tomorrow with the participation of the Prime Ministers of Poland and Slovakia – Mateusz Morawiecki and Eduard Heger.
The length of the Poland-Slovakia interconnector is 164 kilometers, of which 103 kilometers are on the Slovak side – from the state border to the compressor station in the village of Velko-Kapushany. In the direction from Poland to Slovakia, its capacity will be 4.7 billion cubic meters. m per year, from Slovakia to Poland – 5.7 billion cubic meters. m per year.
Earlier, the General Director of GTS Operator of Ukraine Serhiy Makogon said in an interview with Ukrinform that this gas pipeline will significantly increase the volume of imports from Poland.
“At the moment, we can import more than 4 million cubic meters per day from Poland. The potential guaranteed capacity at the Poland-Ukraine connection point could be 6.6 billion cubic meters per year, or 18 million cubic meters per day. After the launch of the Poland -Slovakia interconnector Ukraine will be able to import about 13 million cubic meters per day (4.7 billion cubic meters per year) from Poland to Slovakia,” he said.
Earlier, Naftogaz assessed the chances of pumping the required amount of gas before the heating season. To implement the government’s plan, it is necessary to import 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
