The Prime Minister of Kosovo said that he will not postpone the decision to ban Serbian vehicles from entering Kosovo.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that he will not postpone the decision to ban the entry of vehicles with Serbian number plates into the territory of Kosovo: this led to the escalation of the border with Serbia at the end of July. Bloomberg reported this.
September 1, when the new rules are due to take effect, “will be a calm, normal day,” Kurti said, and if it gets worse, the police and 3,800 NATO peacekeepers will end it.
Kurti considers it quite realistic to reach an agreement on the further movement of a partially recognized Kosovo in the EU.
“We must conclude an agreement, and at the time of our government’s mandate, the time has finally come for this. I see an opportunity. This fall we will know if we are moving in this direction. This fall is important for our optimism,” said the prime minister.
It will be recalled that the situation in Kosovo became more complicated on Sunday, July 31, against the backdrop of the authorities’ decision to ban the entry of cars with Serbian license plates and related Serbian documents from August 1.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Kosovo was allegedly preparing an attack on Serbs in the northern region of the partially recognized state.
After the reaction of the US, Kosovo decided to postpone the procedure for imposing a ban on Serbian documents until September 1. In Pristina, they stressed that they would make a concession as soon as the Serbs protesting against the innovations were dismantled the barricades.
The EU announced the failure of negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo.
