On August 25, front-line correspondent Yuriy Butusov published an archival video recording of the landing of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from a Mi-8 helicopter in the port of Mariupol.
Earlier, Rakurs published a video showing Mi-8s of the Armed Forces of Ukraine delivering aid to a city surrounded by Russian war criminals. In the spring, despite the full retinue, the legendary Ukrainian pilots broke through to Azovstal. Two helicopters flew, once – four. A total of seven flights were made. Unfortunately, during the fifth and seventh sorties, two helicopters were shot down.
Subsequently, the pilot of one of the helicopters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, flying to Mariupol, told the details of a deadly special operation led by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. The pilots had to fly 100 km deep into the occupied territory, which was controlled by hostile air defense systems. Pilots were more excited when the crew was going to the aircraft. In an interview, the military man added that after flying away from Mariupol, 6 km from the city, they came under fire – a shell from a MANPADS hit his helicopter, the engine failed. Unfortunately, the Russians managed to shoot down the second helicopter, its entire crew died.
Recall that the intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine organized flights of 16 Mi-8 helicopters with supplies and personnel to support the defenders of the Azovstal plant in Mariupol. Helicopters broke into the plant through dense air defenses and the work of Russian aviation. Thus, food, drinking water, weapons, ammunition and medicines were delivered to the fighters in the besieged city. In addition, reinforcements were transferred in this way – 72 fighters of the Azov regiment.
