Ukraine will receive new financial assistance from the United States.
On the 31st anniversary of Independence, the Ukrainian government will receive $3 billion from the United States. financial assistance, which will be directed to the state budget. Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko announced this on Facebook on August 24.
According to the minister, the money will be provided in the form of a non-refundable grant through the mechanism of the World Bank.
I am grateful to our American partners and the World Bank team for their strong support to Ukraine. Grant assistance is a significant gift for our country on the Independence Day of Ukraine, the minister wrote.
Marchenko expressed confidence that the struggle of the Ukrainians would end in victory over the Russian aggressor.
Recall, on August 8, Reuters, citing the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), reported that Ukraine would receive additional financial assistance from the United States in the amount of $4.5 billion. The funds should help the Ukrainian government maintain essential functions, including social and financial assistance for the poor, disabled children and millions of internally displaced people, as the war drags on.
Previous tranches of assistance to Ukraine from USAID amounted to 1.3 billion dollars. in June and 1.7 billion dollars. in July. Today, August 8, the Pentagon also announced a $1 billion arms aid package.
The National Bank of Ukraine announced in June that the total amount of declared financial assistance to Ukraine was $30 billion.
