The Italian, after a trip to Spain, received positive tests for COVID, monkeypox and HIV.
After a five-day trip to Spain, a 36-year-old Italian man contracted the coronavirus, HIV and monkeypox at the same time. CNBC reported this.
He developed symptoms nine days after his return. These include fatigue, headaches, and a rash on the left arm, followed by blisters over the next few days.
After going to the hospital, doctors diagnosed the man with COVID-19 and monkeypox. He also tested positive for HIV. However, a week later, the Italian was discharged from a medical facility, as he had recovered from both monkeypox and coronavirus.
Researchers from the University of Catania said the case shows how the symptoms of monkeypox and COVID-19 “can overlap” and confirm that “co-infection, history taking and sexual habits” are important for diagnosis.
Earlier it was reported that the war in Ukraine will lead to an increase in the number of diseases: oncological and cardiovascular.
Monkeypox deaths have been reported in two countries
