Washington’s funding is primarily focused on weapons to secure Kyiv’s medium and long-term defense posture, writes ABC News.
A new $3 billion US military aid package for Ukraine, to be announced on August 24, will include three types of drones and other weapons to secure Kyiv’s medium-to-long-term defense posture. This was reported by the ABC News channel, citing sources.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular, should receive:
– Puma drones launched from hands;
– drones for long-term monitoring Scan Eagle, launched with a catapult;
– British Vampire drone system that can be launched from ships.
The new funding is primarily intended to help Ukraine secure its medium and long-term defense posture, officials familiar with the matter said.
Previous deliveries have focused on Ukraine’s more immediate arms and ammunition needs, and have included materials that are already in the Pentagon’s stockpile and can be shipped on short notice.
It noted that in addition to providing long-term aid that Ukraine can use for potential future defense needs, the new package is designed to reassure Ukrainian officials that Washington intends to continue support.
Remember, on August 23, the Associated Press reported that the US administration on Ukraine’s Independence Day will announce the allocation of a record package of military aid to Kyiv.
