In Lutsk, from the 40-meter obelisk located on the memorial of Eternal Glory, they began to dismantle the Soviet star located there.
The work is carried out with the help of a lift and a grinder, in particular, employees of the regional department of the State Emergency Service are employed in them. This was announced today, August 23, by the publications Volynskiye Novosti and Obshchestvennoe Lutsk.
It is noted that the Soviet star is made of bronze, inside it is hollow. Its weight is 300 kg, the star is located at a height of 36 m.
At first they tried to cut it off completely, but over time they decided to dismantle it in pieces.
We plan to dismantle it today. We will dismantle it in pieces. It is not quite easy, but it is cut. That is, we cut it and remove it, – said the representative of the city council.
Whether a new symbol will be placed on this obelisk will be decided later.
