Improve your memory in a lasting way with a few sessions of transcranial electrical stimulation, a non-invasive and painless method. This is not the promise of an obscure anti-aging institute, but the results of a study conducted at Boston University and published in this Monday’s journal. Nature Neuroscience.
Transcranial stimulation techniques have been the subject of many studies for more than a decade, particularly in the management of certain cognitive disorders associated with neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, dementia with Lewy bodies, etc.). The two main methods are magnetic stimulation, which can temporarily alter the activity of a brain area, and electrical stimulation, which modulates the ability of neurons to respond to natural activation. Although promising, these methods are not yet routinely used in clinical settings.
