French President Emmanuel Macron called on the international community to show “no weakness and no spirit of compromise” over Russia’s continued war in Ukraine.
He stated this during his speech at the Crimean Platform summit, which began today, August 23, AFP reports.
We cannot have any weakness, any spirit of compromise, because we are talking about freedom for all and peace in all parts of the globe,” Macron stressed.
The French President also promised that the European Union’s support for Ukraine in its fight against the full-scale invasion of Russia, which began six months ago, would continue “in the long term.”
Our determination has not changed, and we are ready to support these efforts in the long term, he stressed in a video message.
The destabilization of the international order and subsequent failures at the humanitarian level, in terms of energy and food” are the consequences of the choice made by Russia and only Russia to attack Ukraine on February 24,” the French President stressed.
