Alyssa Nakken Makes History As First Woman To Coach On The Field In MLB Game –

San Francisco Giants assistant coach Alice Nacken became the first female manager to appear on the pitch at a Major League Baseball game on Tuesday.

Naken left the pitch after Janet’s first baseman Antoine Richardson was eliminated in the previous inning. Eric Hosmer, first base for the San Diego Padres, shook hands with Naken in recognition as he walked away.

It’s one of many frontiers for the former Sacramento State softball star, who became MLB’s first female full-time coach when she joined the Giants Main League coaching staff in January 2020.

“It’s definitely exciting because I grew up loving giants,” San Francisco’s KGO-TV told its 2020 success earlier this month. “I was 3 weeks old when I went to the first game, so it was a combination of a like ‘Wow, no girl has done this before’ and two, I have to represent this baseball team, which means a lot. So much I’ve been there for years and it’s a great honor. “

The giant’s manager Gabi Kepler, who took him for the role, said he was the best man for the job.

“Our belief is that diversity and success are very closely related,” Kepler said.

He first entered Baseball Giants operations as an intern in 2014. In July 2020, he first appeared on the pitch for an exhibition match against Oakland Athletics.
