The European Union (EU) will discuss next Monday in Prague (Czech Republic) the deployment of the mission “learning” from Ukrainian armyas EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell said today.
The mission will take place “in countries neighboring Ukraine” and not on the territory of this country, Borrell said at a press conference in Santander (Spain).
Also Vice President European Commission believed that Council of Ministers of Defense from EU approve this mission at its meeting on Monday in the Czech Republic, which presides over European Union in the second half of 2022.
“It seems reasonable that the war that is going on and seems to be going on requires efforts not only to supply materials, but also to train and help organize the army,” Borrell said.
The EU already has similar missions in other countries
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs recalled that the European Union already has such missions in the 17 countries with which it cooperates, such as Mali, Niger, Chad or Mozambique in Africa, noting that United Kingdom is already training the Ukrainian army.
The head of European diplomacy, who gave no further details of the operation as the agreement is still “need to fake”I consider that “that would be an important mission” because “This is a full scale war.”
“We are facing a conventional war, a real one, not asymmetrical, no guerrillas, no attacks. This is the mobilization of the media, hundreds of thousands of soldiers. Any mission must be before the conflict. Ten million Ukrainians left their country,” he said. .
When asked about the danger of a possible catastrophe at the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporozhye, occupied by Russian troops, Borrell insisted on the message of the UN Secretary General, António Guterreswho during his visit to Ukraine last week “made a serious call for the demilitarization of the outskirts of this city.”
“The EU has also asked for an end to the attacks. Russia is shutting down nuclear power plants, this does not jeopardize maintenance,” a senior European official said, although he warned that the Russian army was disconnecting nuclear power plants from the Ukrainian power grid in order to connect it to the Russians.
