The former Bundeswehr general asked the German chancellor why Germany is not providing armored personnel carriers to Ukraine.
The IRIS-T air defense system and the COBRA counter-battery radar will soon arrive in Ukraine. This was said by the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, report on Monday, August 22, Tagesschau.
He was noted to have said this when answering a question from former Bundeswehr General Klaus Wittmann at the federal government’s open day.
Wittmann asked Scholz why Germany did not supply armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. To this, the German chancellor replied that the country provides “many weapons,” including “the most modern and efficient equipment.”
At the same time, Scholz recalled the planned deliveries of the IRIS-T air defense system and the COBRA artillery radar.
It will be recalled that last week the German media reported that Scholz had been blocking arms supplies to Ukraine since June.
By the way, Ukraine agreed to buy the German IRIS-T air defense system in June. Later, Berlin announced that the IRIS-T air defense system promised to Ukraine is still in production in Germany. It will be ready for transfer to Ukraine by the end of summer.
The ratings of Scholz and his government have fallen to record lows
