The head of the regional branch of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was found dead in his home in central Ukraine, the prosecutor’s office said on Sunday. Alexander Nakonechny’s wife heard a gunshot in their apartment in Kropyvnytskyi late on Saturday evening before finding her husband’s body shot in one of the rooms, the prosecutor’s office reported on Telegram.
The police have launched an investigation to find out the cause of his death, the prosecution added, without commenting on the theses examined by the investigators. Local elected official Andriy Lavrus confirmed on Telegram that the person in charge committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.
