Ukraine tries to avoid bureaucracy in the process of joining the EU and at the same time demonstrates its maximum ability to go through all the necessary legal procedures related to membership.
Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanyshina said that Ukraine wants political clarity from EU leaders on the next steps towards membership by the end of the year.
“We need to understand how long and difficult our path to membership in the European Union will be, and not only in the sense of negotiations. We will really need to complete the necessary parts for joining the EU. We have the strength and desire for this. The only thing we are missing is political clarity on the next steps,” Stefanyshina said at the opening of the Together we are Europe communication campaign on Sunday, Ukrainform reports.
He added that Ukraine strives to avoid bureaucracy in the process of joining the EU and at the same time demonstrates to the maximum its ability to go through all the necessary legal procedures related to membership.
“Given the challenges facing Ukraine, and the fact that the commitment of the Ukrainian people and Ukraine to the principles of democracy is obvious, as well as the fact that we have fulfilled all the obligations under the Association Agreement of almost 70%, this gives us the opportunity to say that we do not need to analyze from the beginning, but you need to make political decisions. And we want to get such political clarity by the end of the year,” added the Deputy Prime Minister .
According to him, the desire for such political clarity on the part of Ukraine is “not political pressure, but giving people more meaning in political activity.”
Recall that the European Union submitted information to the International Court of Justice in the case of Ukraine against the Russian Federation regarding accusations of “genocide”, which Russia used as a justification for its invasion of Ukraine.
