The capital prosecutor’s office has completed a pre-trial investigation against a resident of Kherson, who agreed to be the “chairman of the regional commission” during the pseudo-referendum in the Kherson region. On Friday, August 19, the press service of the prosecutor’s office.
It was noted that an indictment was sent to the court against him on charges of collaborative activities (part 5 of article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
“The investigation revealed that the suspect agreed to cooperate with representatives of the Russian Federation in May-June 2022. Being in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson, the suspect voluntarily agreed to take a position in an illegally created government body. He was proclaimed as the head of the regional commission for holding a fake “referendum” in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region,” the report said.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the suspect repeatedly participated in election processes under Ukrainian law, in particular, he headed the election commission in the city of Kherson.
The suspect faces 5 to 10 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for 10 to 15 years and with or without confiscation of property.
