The SAR system, which is used by a satellite rented by the charitable foundation of Sergei Prytula, is able to see through obstacles. That is, for her, even the walls of buildings are not a hindrance.
On August 18, the Armed Forces explained how the “Shelter satellite” would help in the war.
ICEYE is not just a company that owns a constellation of satellites that take high quality pictures. ICEYE satellites conduct surveys using synthetic aperture radar (SAR), which allows scanning objects at any time of the day and under any weather conditions, the Strategic Communications Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a statement.
Recall that for UAH 600 million collected by Ukrainians for the purchase of Bayraktar combat UAVs, the Prytula Charitable Foundation rented an ICEYE satellite for the needs of the Armed Forces for a year.
The Office of Strategic Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published images from different satellites for comparison. The last (bottom) image is exactly the image that the Ukrainian military will receive.
The satellites of the ICEYE group observe the Earth in the microwave range (SAR) – this allows you to take pictures of the surface at any time of the day and under any weather conditions.
Usually the data is updated every few hours – you can watch the fighting at the tactical level. Photo resolution is 25 cm per pixel. Ukraine will receive a satellite operating in orbit with an inclination that is convenient for observation. ICEYE will transmit the full capabilities of one of its search and rescue satellites already in orbit.
