The Ministry of Internal Affairs told who will be considered a collaborator in the territories temporarily occupied by Russia.
This was reported by the agency “Ukrinform” with reference to a briefing by the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Alena Matveyeva.
Each case will be dealt with separately, – said Matveeva.
According to Matveyeva, if a person collaborated with the invaders and provided them with some information (as it used to be in the Kyiv region, when the Russians were given information about the Ukrainian military), then such a person will be prosecuted and he will be given suspicion.
If a person did not cooperate (with the invaders – ed.) in this vein, but simply worked as a hairdresser, for example, in a temporarily occupied territory, then, accordingly, there will be no complaints, she stressed.
Matveeva added that the reasons for the cooperation of people with the invaders must be determined in each particular case.
For the most part, it is difficult to establish, because the people who are given suspicion in absentia are in the temporarily occupied territories, the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
According to her, people can cooperate with the occupiers, in particular, for the following reasons:
- they are promised leadership positions or financial rewards;
- for gaining benefit for oneself or through revenge;
- there have been cases when a person wanted to make it easier for himself to travel to the territory of another country.
The punishment for collaboration in Russia is also determined separately in each case, Matveeva notes.
“For example, if a person called for support for the Russian military or provided some information, accepted humanitarian aid (from the Russians – ed.) and distributed it, this is one punishment,” the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs notes. – If we are talking about some more serious actions of a person, for example, when a person’s collaboration activity had such an impact that someone died because of it, then the term in this case can be more serious, even up to life imprisonment.
