The explosions at the facility of the Russian occupiers near the village of Mayskoye and the village of Azovskoye in the Dzhankoy district began at around six in the morning and lasted for several hours. According to Russian proteges, two local residents and several houses suffered.
The occupiers announced the evacuation of the population – people were being taken out of the five-kilometer zone and placed in schools in nearby villages. Two thousand people were reportedly evacuated from Mayskoye. They later decided to declare a “regional” state of emergency.

“On the morning of August 16, as a result of sabotage, a military warehouse near the village of Dzhankoy was damaged … A number of civilian objects were damaged … There were no serious victims,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
At the same time, another incident occurred in Dzhankoy – a transformer substation caught fire. RIA Novosti, citing a source, wrote that the fire started “after a loud explosion.” About three hours later, the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation announced the localization of the fire, stressing that the incident did not disrupt the supply of electricity to consumers.
Later, explosions rang out near the village of Gvardeyskoye, Simferopol region, where the Russian military air base is located. There were clouds of smoke in the sky above the airport, local residents told the Kommersant newspaper.
A mixed aviation regiment of military unit 46451 is based at the airbase in Gvardeisky. There has been no official comment by the invaders.

Why Dzhankoy is a “fat” target
Before the morning explosions in Dzhankoy, the invaders captured a large amount of equipment, ammunition and air defense.
