Queen Elizabeth revealed that she was tired and exhausted from a recent COVID-19 infection when she spoke to a former corovirus patient whose brother and father had died of an illness.
The 95-year-old monarch, who has been vaccinated three times, tested positive for COVID-19 in February and experienced what Buckingham Palace described as “mild cold-like symptoms.” The mansion said it will continue its light duty in Windsor throughout the week.
The Queen made the announcement during a virtual visit on Wednesday to mark the opening of Queen Elizabeth’s ward at London Royal Hospital. He spoke with staff and patients who used the facility during the pandemic, including Asef Hussein, a former COVID-19 patient whose brother and father died after becoming infected in December 2020.
Hussein has been on ventilation for seven weeks. After being released from the hospital, he used a portable oxygen machine.
“It leaves a person very tired and exhausted, doesn’t it? This is a terrible pandemic. “It’s not a good result,” the queen told the former patient.
A new block was built to meet the demand caused by the pandemic.
The queen’s health has been in question in recent months. He was hospitalized in October and suspended his duties, canceled some events in person and entrusted more responsibilities to Prince Charles.
The palace announced last week that it was hosting the Royal Mound service, the Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, and that Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, would be attending its venue.
