Austin has been revaccinated against COVID twice, and the last time the coronavirus was mild.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has tested positive for the coronavirus. On Monday, August 15, he said in a statement released by the Pentagon’s press service.
“This morning I tested positive for COVID-19. I have mild symptoms and will be quarantined at home for the next five days,” Austin said.
Austin also said that he last contacted US President Joe Biden on July 29.
The Pentagon chief recalled that he had been sick with the coronavirus in January. The doctor then told him that thanks to a full vaccination and two booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, the disease was less severe.
“I will continue to consult with my doctor in the coming days,” Austin added.
According to Johns Hopkins University, during the entire pandemic in the United States, more than 92 million people were infected with the coronavirus, approximately 1 million people died in the country.
Recall that the CEO of the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer, Albert Burla, contracted the coronavirus after four vaccinations at Pfizer-BioNTech.
