Sunak’s supporters say he has a better handle on the economy and is the more capable of the two candidates.
British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss leads former Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak by 22 percent in the race for British Prime Minister. On Saturday, August 13, the Reuters report related to the results of a survey of members of the Conservative Party, conducted by Opinium.
A poll of 450 party members who decided how they would vote in the current leadership election showed Truss winning 61% and Sunak 39%.
The agency said the main reasons for supporting Truss were dislike of Sunak, greater confidence in the Foreign Minister and loyalty to Boris Johnson.
The total sample size, including those who did not express voting preferences, was 570 people. Less than a third of them, 29%, said they had already voted, and another 47% said they had already made a decision. Only 19% said they could still change their mind.
Truss has previously revealed who she will call first when she takes over as prime minister.
