Subjects of the Russian Federation are exaggerating the number of people signing up for volunteer battalions to hide failures in their formation, according to a new report from the American Institute for the Study of War, published on night of August 13.
“Constituent entities of the Russian Federation likely misreported interest in these volunteer units to encourage more residents to participate in recruitment campaigns,” the report said.
