Ukrainian President, Vladimir Zelenskyconfirmed this Friday that he had a telephone conversation with Pope Francis, to whom he informed about “Russian crimes” in Ukraine.
“I informed him about the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and its terrible crimes. I am grateful to the pontiff for your prayers for Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote on his Twitter. Twitter.
“Our people need support of spiritual leaders of the world, who must convey to the globe the truth about the atrocities committed by the aggressor in Ukraine,” he stressed.
Waiting for a visit to Kyiv
Last weekend, the Ukrainian Ambassador to the Holy See announced that Pope Francis plans to visit Kyiv before visiting Kazakhstan. next September 13th.
“Ukraine for many years, and especially since the beginning of the war, waiting for dad and we will be happy to welcome you before your trip to Kazakhstan,” the diplomat wrote on his Facebook page. Twitter.
Vatican at the moment did not confirm this possibility, although the pontiff has several times declared his intention to go to this country to ask for an end to the conflict. (EFE)
