National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) The United States this Friday denied accusations by former Republican President Donald Trump that his predecessor, Barack Obama, did not return documents taken when leaving the White House in 2017 to this agency.

This institution stated in a brief written statement that it had taken into custody “legal and physical” Obama’s presidential materials when the Democratic president left office.

“NARA displaced approximately 30 million pages of unclassified records to a NARA facility in the Chicago area, where it is stored exclusively. In addition, it maintains Obama’s classified presidential records at its own facility in the Washington area,” the center said.

The National Archives emphasized in its note that, as established by law, the former Democratic president has no control about where and how the material of his Administration, which lasted from 2009 to 2017, is stored.

Trump’s allegations

Trump said yesterday that Obama sent 30 million pages of his administration’s documents to Chicago with a promise to digitize them and eventually put them online, noting that more than five years after his presidency ended, the National Archives website reported that they have not been digitized or disclosed.

His complaint comes at a time when he himself is under investigation, and his Florida residence was searched by the FBI on Monday for classified documents.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) today it turned out that during this check, some documents marked as top secretthe highest level of confidentiality that can be applied to information in the US intelligence system.

“The first, everything was declassified. Second, they didn’t have to “capture” anything. They could do it at any time without going into politics or going to Mar-a-Lago. Everything was in a secure warehouse. (…) THE ONLY THING THEY HAD TO DO IS ASK,” Trump repeated on his network this Friday. TruthSocial.

United States Attorney General, Merrick Garlandindicated this Thursday that he personally approved the decision to request a search warrant, and said that he requested permission from a court in South Florida to release said warrant and the resulting inventory, which expired this Friday at 3:00 pm local time . .
