The first mission of the new ship Abdülhamid Han was the Yörükler-1 well, 55 km from the coast of the Gazi Pasha region.
Turkey has sent a new drilling vessel, Abdülhamid Han, to the eastern Mediterranean. It was reported on August 9 by Anadolu agency.
Notably, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the ceremony in honor of the ship’s first mission.
He specified that Abdülhamid Han will develop the Yörükler-1 well, 55 km from the coast of the Gazi Pasha region.
The Turkish leader emphasized that Yörükler-1 is the first step towards the implementation of Ankara’s big plans in the Eastern Mediterranean. Thanks to the exploration and subsequent production of hydrocarbons, the country intends to eliminate external energy dependence.
“Just by the end of this year, Turkey will pay $100 billion for energy resources. This fact alone speaks of the importance of developing its own fields,” he said.
The most powerful drilling ship of the Turkish fleet will operate in the eastern Mediterranean until October 7.
