Accusations against the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be evidence of the ineffectiveness of Russian air defense systems, say researchers at the Institute for the Study of War.
The Kremlin does not blame Ukraine for the strikes on Novofedorovka airport in Crimea – that would be evidence of the ineffectiveness of Russia’s air defense systems. So it was before the sinking of the Russian cruiser Moskva. This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War.
“The simultaneity of explosions at two different sites probably excludes the official Russian version of an accidental fire, but does not exclude either sabotage or a long-range missile attack,” the report said.
ISW indicates that Ukraine may have modified its Neptune missiles for land use (as the Russians have done with anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles), but there is no evidence to support this hypothesis.
It will be recalled that the occupiers claimed the death of one person and the wounding of 13 as a result of the explosions at the airport. No military losses are recognized.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the explosions at the air base were caused by detonating munitions.
