The company, which at the beginning of 2022 will hold 51% of the Russian air cargo market, maintains only a few crews.
Russia’s largest cargo air group, Volga-Dnepr, will cut more than 200 Boeing pilots from its AirBridgeCargo and Atran airlines. This was reported by RBC.
It is reported that the company, which at the beginning of 2022 occupied 51% of the Russian air cargo market, will retain only a few crews in case it receives permission from the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation to return the aircraft to foreign leasing companies, and in total at the beginning of the year AirBridgeCargo employed more than 300 pilots, in Atran – about 110.
Currently, the Volga-Dnepr group continues to fly Russian An-124 and Il-76 aircraft.
“The company’s resources are not unlimited. Optimizing the number of personnel is a necessary measure. It is carried out in stages to preserve the fleet,” said a representative of the company in response to a question about firing pilots.
It is reported that the pilots began to leave the group from the beginning of the spring of 2022: some of their own free will, the other – with the agreement of the employer, said a source of RBC.
In March, the group’s press office reported that AirBridgeCargo and Atran had suspended flights due to sanctions against lessors banned from working with Russian companies and statements by the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) about the termination of certificates of airworthiness.
It was previously reported that Russian airlines, including state-owned Aeroflot, have begun dismantling airliners due to a lack of spare parts.
