Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky questioned the silence this Saturday Amnesty International (AI) about the attacks of Russian troops in the area of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

“Despite the fact that the bombing of nuclear power plants by Russia is one of the most dangerous crimes against Ukrainians and all Europeans (…), for some reason there is no report, not even a simple notice of Amnesty International about this,” the president criticized in a daily video message to the people of Ukraine.

Zelensky again criticized the work of the organization after it confirmed the “significant deterioration” of the situation around the nuclear power plant and demanded new sanctions against Russia “for creating such a global threat.”

The President said that this was “very eloquent silence”, which once again testifies to the selectivity of the organization.

The criticism comes two days after Ukraine’s president accused AI of justifying Russian attacks on his country by issuing a report in which the national army highlights the use of life-threatening military operations against civilians.

Zelensky assured that he had not seen such “clear and timely” reports from some international organizations about “crimes committed by Russian terrorists.”

After this dispute, the director of the Ukrainian branch of the NGO Amnesty InternationalOksana Pokalchuk announced her resignation in protest against the aforementioned report.

“I left Amnesty International in Ukraine. This is another loss that the war cost me,” Pokalchuk said in a Facebook post, where he first of all regretted that the organization did not include a detailed opinion of the Ukrainian government in writing the report.

Ukraine celebrates the resumption of exports

Zelensky assured that the resumption of grain exports after the blockade of Russia in Black Seawas the success of his soldiers.

“We must not forget that the restoration of our maritime exports became possible mainly thanks to our soldiers, to all those who defended Odessa and ensured the release of Zmiiny. They are just heroes,” he said, explaining that the sea export of agricultural products is working again, despite the “security threat” of ongoing Russian attacks.

The President reminded his partners of the need to fulfill “our part of the obligation” to ensure the security of supply. Thus, “the world food crisis will indeed be resolved.”
