Administration introduced by Moscow in the Ukrainian region Zaporozhyemostly controlled Russian armyannounced on Monday the start of preparations for organizing a referendum on joining Russia.
The corresponding decree was signed by the pro-Russian leader of Zaporozhye, Evgeny Balitskyduring the forum in the city of Melitopol, the agency reports RIA News.
According to the source, the event brought together over 700 delegates Zaporozhye region and all spoke in favor of holding a nationwide survey for its joining Russia.

Earlier, Balitsky had already put forward the intention of the region, in which the largest nuclear power plant in Europe is located and whose capital remains under Ukrainian controlhold a referendum.
He later clarified that the plebiscite could take place in first half of September.
Several sources have previously suggested that Russia will prepare the ground for holding referendums in its Ukrainian territories to 11 September, coincides with the day of local elections in Russia.
Kyiv has previously said that if Moscow organizes these consultations, “it will close any possibility of negotiations with Ukraine.”
Kremlin unverified today about possible consultations and said that these are popular initiatives that arise in the territories controlled by Russian troops.
“Plans (to organize referendums) come from the residents of these regions. not from us”, – said the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov. (EFE)
