Thus, according to the European Commissioner, consideration of Kyiv’s application for EU membership will last not for years, as usual, but for weeks.
“After Ukraine submits an application, the European Commission will draw conclusions. Usually it takes years, now it will be faster. The conclusions of the European Commission are a recommendation for the EU Council. This is a unique path. , “von der Leyen sabi.
At the same time, he announced “substantial investments that will pave the way for Ukraine in the European Union.”
The head of the EC also promised Ukraine additional financial assistance – 120 million euros to support the budget, 330 million euros from the emergency package and 600 million euros of macro -financial assistance.
The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that in the near future the EU embassy will return to Kyiv, and after that, according to him, “many people” will return.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine’s goal is to join the European Union.
“The most important thing is that we share the same values. And it is for them that we are fighting – for freedom, for the rights of our people,” the Ukrainian leader said and called on Brussels to do more tighten sanctions against Russia.
Recall, on the eve of von der Leyen handed over to the Ukrainian authorities a questionnaire on membership in the European Union and said that the European Commission plans to prepare an opinion on Ukraine’s membership in the EU in the summer.
In response to this, the Ukrainian leader assured that Kyiv is committed to answering this questionnaire within a week.
