The mayor of Nikolaev reported that the Russians, during the shelling on the afternoon of August 5, caused significant damage to the city. Private houses and high-rise buildings of the Ship District came under fire – the area of destruction is very large.
The head of the Nikolaev Regional Council for Humanitarian Affairs, Anna Zamazeeva, writes that as of 16.00, 20 wounded are known. Among them is a 14-year-old guy who was at the entrance to the church at the time of the shelling.
According to preliminary information, he was injured as a result of a cluster munition explosion. A teenager with polytraumas and mine-explosive wounds of the head, thigh and abdominal cavity was taken to the intensive care unit of the regional hospital in serious condition.
No matter what, they will not achieve their goal. Nikolaev will stand and the light will defeat the darkness with which they came to us,” says Zamazeeva.
The affected area is very large. Private houses, high-rise buildings were damaged. There are fires, significant damage and casualties. Rescue services are working on the ground, – said the mayor Senkevich.
Due to the shelling in Nikolaev, an extended curfew is introduced. It will be valid from 23:00 on August 5 to 5:00 on August 8. The corresponding decision is not connected with the threat of an attack on the city by Russian troops. We will not build bridges.
The Russians intensify the terror of Nikolaev, the inhabitants are urged to stock up on water and food. The deputy of the Nikolaev city council Maxim Kovalenko reported about it.
We make stocks of water, food and medicine. I want to appeal to the residents of Nikolaev. Calmly, without queues, stock up, because public transport will not work, shops will not work. Please, listen to the authorities. Today transport will work until 19:00. There is a problem with water for the last two months. We collect water from wells. The operation of the wells has been extended until 20:00. You can easily and without queues to dial. Please remain calm, and everything will be Ukraine,” Kovalenko said.
