In the US state of Pesnylvania, a fire broke out in a residential building, where the victims were 10 people, including three children. This was reported by CBS News in connection with the police on Friday, August 5.
The tragedy occurred in the town of Neskopek. According to the channel, all those who died were members of the same family and relatives of firefighter Harold Baker, who came to the call.
“Baker said the address originally given for the call was a neighbor’s house, but he realized it was his family’s home when a fire truck pulled up,” the post stated.
The fireman himself, in an interview with local media, said that among the dead were his son, daughter, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter, three grandchildren aged 5, 6 and 7, as also other relatives. The oldest of the victims was 79 years old. Three others escaped from the burning building. In total, 14 people lived in the home, according to Baker.
The fire consumed the two-story building. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. According to eyewitnesses, the fire first engulfed the front porch, before neighbors heard loud noises or explosions.
On the eve, it was reported that 13 people died in a fire at a nightclub in Thailand. Several dozen guests at the establishment were injured.
