Investigators have identified the attacker who shot and killed a Ukrainian prisoner of war in a video that caused widespread resonance in society. It turned out to be a Tuvan Ochur-Suge Mongush born in 1993 from the Akhmat battalion. The likely war criminal was identified and published by The Insider and Bellingcat investigators on Friday, August 5.
Investigators based their search on the face and clothing elements, in particular, a black hat and a Ukrainian military shirt. Mongush was identified in several Russian videos released in June and July. He was seen at the Azot chemical plant in Severodonetsk and west of Lisichansk.
With the help of special websites, journalists found Mongush’s profiles on the Web from a photograph. In one of the photos, he is surrounded by other Russian invaders from the Akhmat battalion, and in another, he holds a weapon in his hands.
Investigators made contact with the assailant. At first, he began to deny that he abused a Ukrainian prisoner of war, but he confirmed his appearance in Russian video footage. Mongush said he was allegedly summoned for interrogation by the FSB over the video and will be held for two days.
He added that the FSB told him the place where the Ukrainian soldier was tortured. The bullying was carried out in the Privolye camp on the east bank of the Seversky Donets. Investigators confirmed the words of a likely war criminal by comparing photos of the facility and videos of torture.
Journalists, the video was shot a few dozen meters from the place of torture and execution of the Ukrainian military.
Recall that on July 28, a record was published on the network, showing how the occupier cut off the genitals with a clerical knife on a prisoner in the form of the Ukrainian army. Later, the Ukrainian soldier was shot and dragged on the ground with ropes tied around his feet. The Office of the Prosecutor General announced the opening of a case on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war – Part 1 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In addition, on Friday, July 29, the adviser to the head of the Office of the President, Mykhailo Podolyak, commented on a video circulating online about how the Russian invaders cast a Ukrainian prisoner of war . He called the Russian Federation a country of cannibals and promised compensation to all.
