If Ukraine can strengthen its position around Izyum while continuing to launch a counteroffensive in Kherson, Russian forces will face a difficult choice.
The Ukrainian military conducted a series of localized counterattacks between Izyum and Slavyansk and regained positions in a number of settlements. It was reported to the Institute of Warfare (ISW).
The invaders continued their assault on the ground northeast and south of Bakhmut, attempted to advance on Peski, and made a limited strike on the ground southwest of Donetsk.
The ISW notes that the Russian higher command is faced with a dilemma, the severity of which may depend on Ukraine’s ability to conduct significant counteroffensive operations in several directions at once.
If Ukraine can strengthen its position around Izyum while continuing to launch a counteroffensive in Kherson, Russian forces will face a difficult choice.
They would probably have to decide whether to abandon their positions in the west around Izyum in favor of defending their land lines to the north and east, or bring in more men and equipment to try to hold the existing front line.
“However, these forces must come from another axis, which will endanger other Russian achievements,” the analysts stressed.
Recall, earlier it was reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated a village in the Izyum district.
