South Korea launched its first Korea Pathfinder orbiter to the moon using a Falcon 9 rocket. SpaceX reports.
The launch was conducted from the US Space Force station at Cape Canaveral in Florida. The launch was originally scheduled for last Wednesday, but was delayed due to technical issues.
It was noted that South Korea intends to join the nine countries working on the Artemis project, which aims to create a permanent, sustainable human presence on and around the moon by 2030.
The 678kg spacecraft, carrying six scientific instruments, will enter lunar orbit in December before beginning to collect various data in a mission expected to last at least a year.
Earlier it was reported that the Earth began to rotate faster around its axis so that the shortest day was recorded.
