It is noted that six underground turbines are located at a depth of 600 meters underground in a cave between the Emosson and Vieux Emosson reservoirs in Valais, in southern Switzerland.
The capacity of each underground turbine is 150 MW. Turbines can go from pumping to full power in less than five minutes, and they can go from turbine to pumping in less than ten minutes. 360 cubic meters of water per second pass through the turbines.
