The leadership of the border city wants to show its support for Ukraine and Ukrainians.
The authorities of the Finnish city of Lappeenranta, located near the Russian border, decided to play the national anthem of Ukraine every night. This was announced on Thursday, August 4, by the State Border Service of Ukraine.
As indicated, the anthem will be played every day at 19:30. In addition, the Ukrainian flag will be raised on the flagpole in front of the city hall and at the port.
The mayor of the city, Kimmo Järvi, said that in this way he wanted to show his support for Ukraine and Ukrainians.
The State Border Guard Service says that Lappeenranta is the favorite city of Russians for shopping, and they go there often.
As reported, Finland plans to introduce new restrictions on issuing tourist visas for Russian citizens.
