Russia is trying to artificially create a gas crisis in Europe. For the sake of this, the Russian gas monopoly Gazprom burns natural gas on the border with Finland, intended for transportation to the countries of the European Union – a pillar of fire and smoke has been burning at the Portovaya compressor station for several weeks.
According to Yle, since May, Gazprom has been flaring gas near the compressor station and the LNG terminal of the same name.
According to satellite images of the NASA fire monitoring system, fires were recorded on the territory of the LNG terminal as early as May 22. Then Russia reduced the transit of gas to Europe. Fires on the territory of Portovaya station also appeared on June 17. Then, within a few days, gas pumping through the Nord Stream almost tripled – from 167 million cubic meters. m to 67 million cubic meters. m.
The compressor station is used to increase gas pressure, which increases the throughput of the gas network.
Recall that recently Moscow again reduced gas supplies to the EU country, announcing the shutdown of another turbine.
