Foreign-made components were found in missile guidance units for Russian rocket artillery systems Tornado-S. The Tornado-S MLRS ammunition includes 9M544 and 9M549 guided missiles, which can destroy armored and non-armored vehicles, as well as manpower.
RF missiles have special missile guidance units. After shelling the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, these blocks are found relatively unscathed. The military transferred one of these blocks to the American Center for Advanced Defense Studies (C4ADS), which specializes in the analysis of conflicts and security issues, writes Military.
In Ukraine, representatives of the center are studying Russian military technologies for the presence of American and European products in Russian technology. Imported parts were found in the Russian 9M544 missile control unit, in particular:
-
two microcircuits in the TSOP66 package (memory modules are usually assembled on such microcircuits. Russia does not produce microcircuits in such packages);
-
tantalum SMD capacitors (sold in civilian markets);
-
DB15 connector (not available in Russia);
-
connector type SMA (not available in Russia);
-
three ICs in LQFP64 package (low profile ICs).
We are talking about civilian electronics without a military standard, which can be used in household appliances. This allows Moscow to continue to buy some of the necessary components for missiles in civilian markets, bypassing the sanctions.
